The ink pad counter and what it does
Every Epson printer — whether EcoTank ET, L, Expression XP, WorkForce WF, Stylus T, TX, M-series, or Photo — contains an internal electronic counter that tracks the amount of ink absorbed by the internal waste pads. When this counter hits the factory-set maximum, the printer locks completely to prevent potential ink leaks.
What does the reset procedure do?
The reset clears this electronic counter back to zero, lifting the software lock. The procedure takes under 5 minutes, requires no disassembly or tools, and does not affect firmware, print settings, or any other printer parameter.
Which series are supported?
We support all major Epson series: EcoTank ET and L, Expression Home and Premium XP, WorkForce WF, EcoTank M, Stylus T and TX, Expression Photo P, PictureMate PM, and Stylus Photo SP. All models can be reset via a USB connection on Windows 7 through 11.
